Yes you read that right. Actually, I like to make this recipe into muffins, so these are sourdough chocolate chip muffins!
Here's the recipe:
225g sourdough starter (discards)
225g milk
240g all purpose flour
Let it ferment in room temp for a couple of hours. It might puff up, it might not. Doesn't matter. Then mix with...
200g oil
2 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp salt
1.5 tsp baking soda
1 tsp coffee powder
64g cocoa powder
180g sugar
Mix until the batter is smooth without swirls of sourdough. It's easier with a hand mixer but I've done it with a regular balloon whisk and it's possible. Might break a sweat, but it's OK :-) Lastly, fold in 350g chocolate chips of your choice.
This recipe makes 24 small muffins. Bake at 175C for about 22mins. I'd tell you to let them cool before eating, but if you can't wait, who's stopping you?
